STATEMENT
At 1225 aircraft no. 448159 was attacked by Jet Propelled Aircraft.
One ME 262 approached from 7 o'clock, slightly low and fire from this Jet
hit number four engine tearing away a large part of the cowling and knocking
off the propeller. At this time the aircraft lost about 2,000 feet of
altitude and immediately after it started climbing to rejoin the formation.
However, before it reached the formation's altitude it peeled off toward
the Russian front lines. One or two unidentified aircraft (fighters) were
seen to follow the aircraft until it was out of sight. Time last seen was
1227 hours.
