Aircraft No 44-6433 was last seen at 1250 hours at 49 03 N, 12 00 E
headed in the direction of the Target (Munich). At that time there was
nothing visibly wrong with the A/C and all four engines were running.
Previous to that, at 1049 hours, the A/C was seen to have feathered No 1
Engine. but started it up againe

STATEMENT:
The crew bailed out after two consecutive dives cver Austria from
26000 to 19000. Then from 19000 to 12000, At that time #1 engine lost cowling and
they left. Co-ordinates were approximately 167 degrees 44' N, 13 degrees 10* W.

f. Mechanical trouble developed on aircraft and two engines went
out. Pilot gave order to bail out. Subject landed sa.°ely but evidently was
killed by Germans. English speaking German told crew that one of their men
was killed and the crev saw the chute and a mae west with subject's name on
it.
